Chalkida's broad, sociable beach across the strait
Alykes is where Chalkida goes for a conventional beach day. The broad sand and shallow gulf water suit families, while a line of beach bars creates a lively afternoon atmosphere. Its size leaves some public space between the most commercial sections.
Music and parking pressure are part of the peak-season experience. Arrive early for a quieter swim, and use a designated crossing because the road behind the beach is busy. The 2026 Blue Flag listing applies to a managed section, not automatically to every metre of coast.
