Nafpaktos combines a photogenic fortified port, castle views, old neighbourhoods and beaches beside the Rio–Antirrio crossing.
Nafpaktos's circular Venetian harbour is enclosed by towers and linked to defensive walls that climb towards the castle. The Battle of Lepanto took place offshore in 1571, remembered through monuments and the town's European history.
Stenopazaro lanes, Botsaris Tower and the castle create a rewarding uphill walk, while Gribovo and Psani beaches extend along the gulf. Mountain Nafpaktia offers forest villages inland.
Practical information
Buses connect via Patras and the Rio–Antirrio bridge. Park outside the harbour, visit the castle before heat and plan mountain roads separately.
