Papingo's two settlements sit beneath the vertical limestone Towers of Astraka, one of Greece's most dramatic mountain backdrops. Stone houses and lanes have been carefully preserved, while the natural pools along the Rogovo stream provide an easy local walk.
Serious routes climb towards Astraka Refuge, Dragon Lake and the upper Vikos landscape. The villages also support thoughtful guesthouses and restaurants using Epirus pies, local meat and mountain herbs.
Practical information
Reach Papingo by a steep, winding road from Aristi. Alpine hikes require proper equipment and weather checks; parking is limited and swimming in pools may be seasonally restricted.
