A design-led family retreat outside Chania
Domes Zeen sits on the coast at Kato Daratso, close enough to Chania for regular dinners and walks around the Venetian harbour but removed from its crowds. The architecture uses concrete, stone, timber and muted planting to create a grounded, almost village-like resort that looks inward to gardens and outward to the sea.
Bungalows and pavilions provide more privacy than conventional hotel corridors, and many add pools or generous terraces. Children get imaginative spaces and organised activities, while adults retain a sophisticated pool, spa and food programme. The beach is convenient rather than Crete’s most dramatic, so the hotel works best as a comfortable base for exploring western Crete. It is particularly strong for design-conscious families who want Chania within reach.
