Doryssa Lithos Hotel

A polished 33-room retreat above Pythagoreio, pairing broad Aegean views and a peaceful pool with an easy walk to the harbour, beach and archaeological sites.

Our take

A small hillside hotel with Pythagoreio at its feet

Doryssa Lithos occupies a useful perch above Pythagoreio: high enough to see across the tiled roofs and Aegean, yet close enough to walk down for dinner around the harbour. Its 33 rooms feel calm and contemporary, with warm neutrals, timber details and a furnished balcony in every category. The pool terrace is the natural place to reset after the Eupalinos Tunnel or the climb to Panagia Spiliani, and breakfast is included. Compared with the group’s large resort down the coast, Lithos is quieter, simpler and much more connected to the life of the town.

The elevated position has a price: the walk home is uphill, and travellers with limited mobility should discuss access before booking. Sea views also vary by room category, so choose one explicitly rather than relying on the hotel’s panoramic setting. There is a bar but no full-service dinner restaurant, spa or children’s programme, and the compact pool deck cannot imitate a beach resort. That restraint is precisely the appeal. Doryssa Lithos is Pythagoreio’s best small panoramic hotel for couples and independent travellers who want a pool and a good breakfast without surrendering their evenings to an isolated resort.
