Elena Village

A terraced seaside aparthotel near Massouri’s climbing crags, offering proper kitchens, a children’s pool and flexible apartments for families of up to six.

Our take

Family apartments with kitchens and front-row sea views

Elena Village works particularly well when a hotel room would feel restrictive. Its sea-facing studios and apartments include kitchen facilities and balconies, with standard layouts sleeping up to four and the largest two-bedroom private-pool apartment accommodating six. Breakfast is included, but having a refrigerator, hob and microwave makes early climbing starts and meals with children much easier. The main outdoor pool has a separate children’s section, a pool bar and broad views towards Telendos, while the restaurant removes the need to cook every evening. Grande Grotta is almost outside the door, Poets Crag is nearby, and Massouri’s beach and tavernas can be reached on foot.

The hotel is built into a steep slope, so those views come with steps. There is no lift or on-site parking, and guests with pushchairs, heavy luggage or limited mobility should ask for a suitable apartment before committing. Interiors prioritise space and practicality over boutique design, while extra beds and sofa beds differ between categories; families should check the exact floor plan rather than book by occupancy alone. The private pools belong only to selected apartments, and Massouri’s centre is a walk rather than directly outside. Expedia rates Elena Village 9.4 from 100 reviews, the deepest high-scoring sample among Kalymnos’s family aparthotels. It is a strong choice for climbers and families staying a week, especially when self-catering freedom matters more than slick hotel service.
