Larissa’s full-service resort hotel for pools, spa and families
Grecotel Larissa Imperial is the only Larissa hotel that can convincingly turn a stop in the Thessalian capital into a resort stay. Set in broad gardens on Farsalon Street, it has a large seasonal pool, a children’s pool and a heated indoor pool, backed by tennis, a properly equipped gym and the Imperial Elixir spa with sauna, hammam and treatments. The main restaurant handles an abundant breakfast and polished Greek cooking, while the lobby and seasonal pool bar keep food and drinks available beyond formal mealtimes. Accommodation ranges from conventional guestrooms to bungalows and genuinely useful connected family suites, the largest giving up to six people two bathrooms and 75 square metres. Free parking and rapid access to the ring road make day trips across Thessaly painless.
The hotel sits outside Larissa’s walkable centre, so evenings around the ancient theatre require a short drive or taxi. Its grand, dark-wood style is traditional rather than fresh, and Expedia feedback suggests some rooms and corridors are ready for further refurbishment; a five-star badge should not be read as uniformly new. Outdoor pools are seasonal, spa access follows set hours and may require a reservation, treatments cost extra, and most wellness areas are intended for guests aged 14 or over. Large events can also change the atmosphere in public rooms. Expedia rates the Imperial 8.8 from 207 reviews. Comfort Suites scores higher, but no competitor has a comparable depth of feedback or combination of pools, spa, restaurant, family rooms and grounds. This is Larissa’s full-service category leader, especially for families and slower road trips.
