Serres’s best full-service base for spa time and city access
Philippos Xenia occupies a useful middle ground between a city hotel and a wellness retreat. Built on the site of the former Xenia at the eastern approach to Serres, it is close enough to walk towards the centre yet looks out towards greener ground. The Asana spa is the defining feature, with an indoor pool, gym, sauna, steam room, yoga and bookable treatments that make a winter stay more appealing than a room alone would. Two restaurants, coffee spaces, a rooftop setting, free breakfast and on-site parking keep business trips and short breaks self-contained. The 59 rooms include larger choices for families, and the hotel’s meeting spaces and coworking facilities are genuinely useful rather than decorative additions to a leisure property.
The building and some bedrooms now show their age, a point reflected in recent Expedia feedback, and four-star should be read as a description of facilities rather than uniformly fresh design. Spa access, treatments and particular sessions may carry conditions or charges, while the indoor pool can be shared with fitness users. The centre is reachable but not directly outside the door, and guests focused on late restaurant-hopping may prefer Metropolis. Breakfast quality is generally solid rather than memorable. Expedia rates Philippos Xenia 8.4 from 31 reviews. It is not an exceptional score, but it has the strongest verified record among Serres hotels and is the clear category leader for a central full-service stay with proper wellness, dining and business facilities.
