The courtyard edits the Cretan canon
Kritamon occupies a traditional house on the upper village square, opening its dining room into a planted stone courtyard. A short menu moves from dolmadakia and octopus to mushroom risotto, lamb chops and greens pies, backed by bottles from Cretan estates around Archanes.
Order in courses. The kitchen handles fewer dishes than the long tourist menus nearby, so ask about sold-out plates before choosing wine; reserve the courtyard, allow time for the mains and bring a layer once the mountain air drops after sunset.
