The E4 route from Zaros Lake climbs through Agios Nikolaos Gorge toward Rouvas Forest in a demanding mountain excursion.
This is a real hike, not an extension of the lake promenade. Rocky ground, heat and elevation require boots, water, navigation and an early start. Check fire closures and weather locally, and turn back before fatigue compromises the descent. Some sections may challenge vertigo or mobility. A guide is sensible for inexperienced walkers or uncertain seasonal conditions.
