Climb to the island's modest high point for orientation rather than a dramatic summit expedition
Sandardo's height is modest, but on a low island it provides valuable orientation across Ereikoussa and the surrounding Ionian water. The route passes through the heather, olive and cypress landscape that defines the interior, linking naturally with a longer circuit from Porto or Fiki rather than requiring a dedicated expedition.
Paths are not consistently marked, so obtain current directions and keep an offline map. Carry water, avoid the hottest hours and turn back if vegetation obscures the route. Summer fire restrictions must be respected, while wind at the exposed top can be much stronger than around the harbour.
