A sheltered swim where Agistri nearly meets Aponissos islet
Aponissos is not a conventional sweep of sand. The beach occupies a slim strip beside a private islet, joined to Agistri by a short causeway, and most people enter the water from platforms or a ramp laid over the flat rocks. The enclosed channel is the attraction: in settled weather it is clear, shallow around the edges and far calmer than Agistri’s exposed shores.
Come for swimming, paddling and an unhurried lunch rather than for a long beach walk. Space is finite and the organised platforms can feel busy in high season, so morning is the better time. Water shoes help on the rock, and swimmers should keep clear of moored boats and the marked navigation route through the channel.
