Eretria City Beach

Eretria's town beach is a practical place for a quick swim near cafés, ferries and archaeological sights, rather than a destination for wild scenery.

Our take

A convenient gulf swim beside Eretria's waterfront

The public waterfront east of Eretria's centre makes it easy to add a swim to a town visit. The Euboean Gulf is usually gentler than the island's Aegean side, while restaurants, shops and the archaeological museum remain close. Several small sections differ in surface and upkeep.

Inspect the entry before choosing a spot, because patches of sand, pebble and seagrass alternate. Boat traffic and town runoff can affect conditions; after heavy rain, consult current local bathing-water notices rather than judging by appearance alone.
