A working coastal village between Thracian lagoons
Fanari is both a summer beach settlement and a year-round fishing harbour west of Komotini. Sand runs beyond the village while the lagoons of the Thracian coast sit close behind, bringing birdlife and a very different setting from the rocky Aegean islands.
Use marked swimming sectors away from the harbour entrance and respect fenced habitat. Wind can raise short waves on the open coast, and mosquitoes are common around still water after sunset. The level road makes arrival easy, but central parking tightens on summer weekends.
