A boat-or-trail beach cooled by freshwater springs
Freshwater rises through the pebbles at Glyka Nera, giving this south-coast beach its name and making the nearshore water noticeably cool. High cliffs create a dramatic backdrop, while tamarisks and a small seasonal taverna provide limited relief on the otherwise bare strand.
The simplest arrival is by scheduled taxi boat from Chora Sfakion or Loutro, subject to weather and seasonal timetables. The E4 approach on foot includes exposed, uneven sections above the sea and is unsuitable for casual sandals or vertigo. Confirm the last boat before settling in and keep clear of the cliff base after rain.
