A long Laconian beach with room for wind and wildlife
Mavrovouni is one of Laconia's longest beaches, extending south from the village across a broad, open bay. Organised areas cluster near road access and accommodation, but the scale of the beach makes it possible to find quieter sand with a short walk.
Afternoon wind is common and supports windsurfing, yet it can also produce chop and current. Loggerhead turtles nest here, so obey markers, keep distance from hatchlings and clear equipment from the beach at night. The sand becomes hot and shade between concessions is limited.
