Porto Katsiki Beach

A long strip of pale shingle beneath a near-vertical limestone cliff, reached by a steep road and steps at the island’s remote southwestern edge.

Our take

Lefkada’s cliff-backed west coast at full scale

Porto Katsiki is a destination beach rather than a casual stop between villages. The final road is winding, parking is limited and the approach ends with a staircase to a coast almost entirely defined by the cliff behind it. Boats also arrive, but a sea excursion should be chosen for its safety policy rather than for a fixed promise to land.

There is little dependable shade at beach level and the west coast can develop strong swell. Carry water, sun cover and footwear suitable for steps and shingle. Obey any closure or setback around the cliff, where falling rock is a real hazard, and never sit inside a restricted area for a better photograph.
