Red sand beneath pale clay cliffs
Xi's red-orange sand and pale clay backdrop look unlike Kefalonia's white-pebble bays. The water remains shallow for a useful distance, and the low coast allows easier road access than the island's cliff-backed western beaches.
Do not carve, climb or sit directly beneath eroding clay faces. The sand and water become cloudy in waves, and organised seating can feel dense in August. Walk beyond the busiest concession for space while staying within designated access routes.
