Agia is a small Thessalian town surrounded by orchards, historic mansions and routes to Kissavos villages and the long beaches east of Larissa.
Agia sits in fertile country known for apples, cherries and chestnuts, with eighteenth- and nineteenth-century mansions reflecting an earlier era of trade. The local archaeological collection and churches add context to a town largely overlooked en route to the coast.
Mount Kissavos rises to the south, while roads descend to Agiokampos and Velika beaches. Forest villages, monasteries and the Tempi landscape make Agia useful for exploring the less familiar eastern side of Thessaly.

Buses connect from Larissa, but a car is best for villages and coast. Mountain roads can be affected by winter weather and storm damage; check conditions.
