The Athenian Riviera stretches from Palaio Faliro towards Cape Sounion, combining organised beaches, coastal neighbourhoods, marinas and easy city access.
Athens meets the Saronic Gulf along a long coastal corridor rather than at one resort. Flisvos Marina and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center anchor the northern section, while Glyfada and Vouliagmeni bring shopping, restaurants and swimming into the daily life of the capital.
Farther south, the coast opens into rocky coves and beach clubs around Varkiza, Lagonisi and Anavyssos. Lake Vouliagmeni offers thermal water in a limestone setting, and the road eventually reaches the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. The Riviera works best as a sequence of distinct stops.
Practical information
The tram reaches the inner coast and buses continue south, but a taxi or car saves time beyond Vouliagmeni. Reserve popular beach clubs and waterfront restaurants in summer.
