Fournoi offers an active fishing port, simple beaches and an island group whose surrounding seabed has yielded an exceptional concentration of shipwrecks.
The Fournoi archipelago sits amid major ancient sailing routes, and underwater surveys have identified dozens of shipwrecks from different periods. In the main village, fishing remains central, reflected in caiques, waterfront tavernas and one of the Aegean's strongest seafood traditions.
Roads and boats reach coves around Fournoi and neighbouring Thymaina. The islands are modest in architecture and services; their identity comes from maritime work, weather and close community ties.
Practical information
Ferries connect from Ikaria, Samos and the Dodecanese on limited schedules. Bring cash, check sea conditions and do not disturb underwater archaeological material.
