Myrina is Lemnos's attractive capital, with a Venetian-Ottoman castle peninsula, neoclassical streets, town beaches and a lively Romeikos Gialos waterfront.
Myrina spreads between two bays divided by a rocky castle hill. The fortress walls command the harbour and Romeikos Gialos, where neoclassical mansions face the sunset; deer now roam the slopes.
The Archaeological Museum introduces Poliochni, Hephaistia and island prehistory before wider exploration. Riha Nera beach begins close to town, and tavernas showcase Lemnian cheese, wheat, wine and seafood.
Practical information
Ferries arrive in central Myrina and the airport lies inland. The castle climb is exposed and uneven; do not feed or approach the deer.
