Poros Town is a compact Saronic port where island lanes, yacht traffic and views towards Galatas meet below a landmark clock tower.
The town curls around the waterfront of Sferia, the volcanic half of Poros. Fishing boats, yachts and the constant little ferry to Galatas animate the channel, while steep lanes climb between neoclassical houses to the clock tower and broad views over the Argolic mountains.
This is the island's best base for travellers who want restaurants and transport close at hand. The Archaeological Museum adds historical context, and coastal roads lead quickly to Kanali, Askeli and Neorio beaches. Evenings are sociable without depending on a club scene.
Practical information
Passenger ferries dock beside the centre and water taxis cross to Galatas throughout the day. Streets above the waterfront are steep; book parking outside the core if arriving by car.
