Sarti is an east-coast beach town with clear water, a long sandy bay and sunrise views across the Aegean to Mount Athos.
Sarti's beach runs for several kilometres below a town settled by refugees from Asia Minor. On clear mornings, the pyramidal summit of Mount Athos rises across the gulf, giving the shore one of Sithonia's most distinctive horizons.
The town has a full summer infrastructure of tavernas, rooms and watersports. South lie the sculpted rocks and coves of Kavourotrypes and Kalamitsi; north, forest roads lead towards Vourvourou. Sarti is lively but remains focused on the beach rather than nightlife.
Practical information
Buses run seasonally, though a car provides access to remote coves. The east coast can be exposed to wind and waves; follow local safety advice and start early for limited parking.
