Spetses brings together sea captains' mansions, a lively old harbour, Revolutionary history and an island coast best explored by boat or bicycle.

Spetses played a decisive role in the Greek War of Independence, and the legacy is visible in the Bouboulina Museum, sea captains' homes and annual Armata celebrations. Dapia is the social centre, while the Old Harbour pairs boatyards and grand houses with restaurants and late-night bars.

Beyond town, pines reach close to coves such as Agioi Anargyroi and Zogeria. Cars are restricted in the centre, so bicycles, local buses and water taxis shape the day. The island balances polished hospitality with working maritime traditions.

Practical information

High-speed ferries connect Piraeus with Dapia, while road travellers use the short boat crossing from Kosta. Reserve for summer weekends and Armata, and check bicycle routes before tackling the hillier west.
