Anemi House & Villas

A small collection of beautifully kept cave houses and a captain’s villa, pairing real self-catering space with private terraces in Oia’s pedestrian heart.

Our take

A private Oia house with the caldera at the window

Anemi is not a conventional hotel so much as a handful of characterful Oia homes with a very attentive host behind them. The collection ranges from an intimate studio and one-bedroom cave houses to a three-bedroom sea captain’s villa, so couples and families can choose space that genuinely fits rather than squeezing into a standard room. Kitchens, proper sitting areas and private terraces make breakfast at home or an unhurried evening overlooking the caldera possible. The houses sit close to Oia Castle, the blue domes and Ammoudi path, while porter help is particularly valuable when arriving with luggage.

Each house is different, and the photographs and floor plan deserve more attention than the category name. Not every option has a plunge pool, breakfast costs extra, and there is no shared restaurant, spa or hotel pool. Oia’s cliffside lanes are pedestrian, stepped and busy around sunset, so this is a poor match for anyone who needs drive-up access or dislikes stairs. It is also better for independent travellers than those wanting round-the-clock resort facilities. Anemi is Oia’s best serviced self-catering stay for privacy, a kitchen and the feeling of borrowing a remarkable local home without giving up thoughtful assistance.
