Grown-up resort calm on a private Mirabello peninsula
Minos Palace spreads across a private peninsula between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda, giving many rooms sunrise or sunset views and the grounds a rare sense of space. The infinity pool forms its social centre, but secluded decks and a sandy private cove provide quieter ways into the water. Rooms begin at a generous 30 square metres, while bungalows and suites add beachfront positions, gardens or private and shared pools.
The hotel is adults-only and best understood as a restorative resort rather than a base chosen simply for sightseeing. Two restaurants, two bars, watersports, tennis, yoga and the ambitious Nao wellbeing programme can fill several unhurried days. Agios Nikolaos is close by taxi and walkable for confident pedestrians, although the return after dinner may feel longer. Prices within the resort are firmly five-star, so travellers intending to explore and eat out daily may not use its strengths. Come for privacy, swimming and well-run downtime; choose a town hotel if spontaneous evenings outside matter more.
