A small grand hotel near the old port
The Excelsior makes a convincing alternative to Thessaloniki’s larger five-star hotels. Set in a restored neoclassical building near the old port, it has fewer rooms, a quieter lobby and the personal rhythm of a boutique property. Tsimiski’s shops, Ladadika’s restaurants and the seafront are all within a few blocks.
High ceilings, tall windows and individual furnishings give the rooms character; categories with balconies are particularly pleasant for watching the centre begin its day. Breakfast is taken seriously, and the ground-floor dining adds energy without overwhelming the hotel above. This suits couples, solo travellers and short business stays where a central address and human-scale service are more useful than resort facilities.
