The Port Square Hotel

A smart four-star hotel opposite Piraeus metro and steps from ferry gates E7 and E8, with early breakfast, family rooms and a genuinely useful all-day restaurant.

Our take

The easiest good night’s sleep before an early ferry

The Port Square Hotel removes almost every awkward step from an overnight connection in Piraeus. The metro and railway station are across the street, ferry gates E7 and E8 are roughly 100 and 220 metres away, and reception operates around the clock. That convenience comes in a crisp contemporary package rather than a bare transit hotel. Rooms range from compact doubles to a proper two-bedroom family room, while the 40-square-metre suite adds a balcony and harbour outlook. Breakfast begins at 06:30, Bacaro serves Mediterranean food throughout the day, and free luggage storage lets guests usefully fill the hours between checkout and departure.

The setting is intensely urban. The square, station and port remain active from early morning, so travellers who sleep lightly should request a quieter room and resist paying for the view. Entry-level rooms start at 19 square metres, and there is no pool, gym or private parking. Nor should “beside the port” be read as “beside every ship”: cruise terminals and distant ferry gates may still require a taxi. Expedia’s 9.6 rating from 1,010 reviews is unusually strong for a busy transport hotel. Choose it when the ferry and direct airport metro matter most; choose a marina hotel if the night in Piraeus is intended to feel like part of the holiday.
