Varosi 4 Seasons

A beautifully restored stone-and-timber mansion in Edessa’s historic Varosi quarter, moments from the waterfalls and prized for its valley views and breakfast.

Our take

Restored old-town character with a valley-wide view

Varosi 4 Seasons makes Edessa’s setting part of the room. The preserved three-storey mansion stands at the lip of the old Varosi quarter, where water channels and traditional houses lead directly towards the waterfalls. Stone walls, heavy timbers and a lobby glass floor revealing part of Edessa’s ancient fortification give the building substance beyond decorative “heritage” styling. Rooms are around 30 square metres—generous for an old-town guest house—with premium bedding and hydromassage showers. The essential decision is orientation: valley rooms look dramatically across the plain, while village-facing rooms turn towards the historic lanes. A cooked breakfast, café-bar, fireplace lounge and small terrace encourage slow mornings, and free parking is an unusual convenience this close to Edessa’s main sight.

Varosi is best for couples and pairs. Expedia lists only double or twin configurations sleeping two, so families needing extra beds should choose Aigai rather than hope the largest-looking room will stretch. Breakfast costs extra on some rates, there is no restaurant for dinner, pool or spa, and traditional details do not eliminate every old-building quirk. Some bathrooms are compact, and reaching the old quarter by car can confuse navigation apps; asking the hotel for the final approach is worthwhile. Lift access is available, but anyone with specific mobility needs should confirm the route through the historic building. Expedia rates Varosi 9.8 from 31 reviews, Edessa’s strongest meaningful verified score. It is the category leader for architecture, views and a walkable romantic stay—especially if a valley room is booked explicitly rather than inferred from the general photographs.
