Brown-bear ecology inside Nymfaio's landmark school building
Nikios School is one of Nymfaio's defining buildings, and the ARCTUROS information centre inside turns it into more than an architectural stop. Displays and guided explanation cover the brown bear's ecology, range and conservation pressures. Visit before the enclosure if possible: understanding why animals arrive in permanent care changes the experience from simple observation to a discussion about coexistence.
The centre currently follows a more limited schedule than the bear area, so check the official page rather than assuming both open together. Ask about language, lift or stair access and the suitability of the presentation for young children. A combined ticket may apply, but prices and conditions can change. Photography and group behaviour should follow staff instructions, and the historic building itself deserves the same care as the exhibition.
