Chania cooking inside a former Ottoman bath
Tamam has cooked in Chania since 1982, in a building that began as a Venetian public bath and continued as a hammam under Ottoman rule. That history is not incidental to a menu shaped by Greek family dishes and the eastern Mediterranean currents that passed through the port.
Reserve during busy months and ask for guidance through the day’s dishes and Cretan wine list. The lanes are pedestrian territory, so walk from the harbour rather than searching for door-side parking. The restaurant is popular; a quiet early table lets the building and service register before the evening reaches full volume.
