The road ends in Pomak cooking
Kottani operates from a traditional house in its namesake Pomak village near the Bulgarian border, roughly an hour by car from Xanthi. Rooms filled with household objects frame a meal of corn bread, beans, pickles, meat and recipes shaped by Greek, Bulgarian and Turkish border traditions.
This is a destination drive, not a casual detour. Phone before leaving, travel in daylight, allow 45–60 minutes each way and ask the family to guide the order; public transport does not solve the final approach and winter road conditions need checking.
