A pan-Hellenic sanctuary held between cliffs and valley
Delphi’s landscape is not background; the sanctuary’s authority is inseparable from its position below the Phaedriades cliffs. Walk the Sacred Way past dedications and treasuries to the Temple of Apollo, then continue to the theatre and, when open, the stadium. The separate sanctuary of Athena Pronaia deserves its own stop below the main complex.
Begin with the museum if context matters most, or enter the site at opening before heat builds and visit the museum afterwards. Allow at least four hours across both. The climb is continuous and exposed. Sleep in Delphi or nearby so the visit is not squeezed between two long drives, and check mountain weather outside summer.
