Read theatre, tombs and mine workings together on the hill where ancient civic life met the ore economy
Thorikos is more valuable as a landscape than as a single photograph. The theatre's elongated curve, the view to the bay and the surrounding galleries and processing traces show domestic, civic and industrial activity occupying the same hill. Read the official or academic introduction beforehand; sparse on-site interpretation otherwise makes separate remains easy to miss.
Access and opening arrangements can change, and archaeological works may close sections. Wear closed shoes, bring water and avoid the hottest hours because shade is scarce. Never enter a mine gallery, climb masonry or cross a barrier. Uneven ground and exposed edges require care; visitors with limited mobility should ask the local ephorate what can be seen safely from the approach.
