Kapsia Cave Guided Visit

Kapsia Cave, about fifteen kilometres north of Tripoli, opens part of a much larger sinkhole system to guided visits among coloured formations and chambers.

Our take

Enter the Mantineian plateau's karst landscape on a managed tour where cool air, wet floors and timing shape the experience

The cave reveals what the flat Mantineian plateau hides below ground. Water has worked through limestone into a wider sinkhole network, while the visitor route passes stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone coloured by mineral deposits. A guide and controlled lighting make the developed section accessible to non-cavers, but this remains a natural cavity rather than a themed attraction. Archaeological evidence also connects the cave with earlier human use.

Entry is by scheduled guided visit, so check the official site and reserve during busy periods. Wear closed shoes with grip and bring a light layer: temperatures are cooler than outside and condensation can make surfaces slick. Steps, low light and damp conditions may make the route unsuitable for some visitors; ask the operator for exact access details before travelling. Heavy rain or maintenance can change operations. Never leave the marked path or touch formations.
