Apokofto is a compact sandy bay beside the Chryssopigi headland, with clear sheltered water, tamarisk shade and two seasonal tavernas.
Our take
A sandy swim beneath Sifnos's Chryssopigi monastery
Apokofto occupies the bay immediately west of Chryssopigi, whose white monastery stands on a split-rock headland. Sand, tamarisks and clear water make the beach an easy place to pause before or after visiting the church.
Parking is above the shore and the final route includes a slope. The beach is small, so arrive early and avoid using the monastery rocks as diving platforms without checking depth and sea state. Dress appropriately when entering the religious site.
