Sifnos is a refined but grounded Cycladic island known for regional dishes, pottery, hill villages and a network of trails to monasteries and bays.

Sifnos has shaped Greek cooking through chefs such as Nikolaos Tselementes, but its food culture remains domestic: slow-baked chickpea stew, mastelo lamb, capers and almond sweets. Restaurants across Apollonia, Artemonas and seaside villages treat that inheritance with both respect and imagination.

White villages occupy the interior, Kastro clings to an ancient acropolis and ceramic workshops continue around Kamares and Vathi. A well-signed trail network reaches dovecotes, mines, chapels and remote coves, making walking as important as dining.

Practical information

Ferries arrive at Kamares; there is no airport. Buses connect villages and main beaches, while trail users should start early and carry water.
