A broad west-facing beach with room and exposure
Falassarna’s scale makes it a better all-day beach than many small Cretan coves. Organised sections and quieter stretches share the same bay, while the ancient site nearby gives the landscape a longer history.
The west-facing shore can develop waves and strong shore break. Follow flags and lifeguards, particularly with children, and do not enter simply because other swimmers have. Arrive early for straightforward parking, use established paths across the dunes and keep the drive back after sunset free of alcohol and unnecessary haste.
