Dunes, open sand and reliable wind beside Lake Korission
Issos runs along the southwest edge of Lake Korission, where deep sand and dunes separate the Ionian Sea from an important wetland. Its scale absorbs crowds well and creates room for long walks beyond the small organised area.
Wind and waves are common, supporting kite and wind sports but demanding attention from swimmers. Use established paths, keep vehicles off dunes and never disturb wetland vegetation. Shade disappears once you leave the entrance, so carry water and a secure sun shelter.
