Fine sand, shallow water and a busy resort promenade make Paralia the practical choice for families and travellers who want every service close by.
Our take
An easy, fully serviced beach base close to Katerini
Paralia trades seclusion for convenience. The broad sandy waterfront sits beside a developed resort with accommodation, restaurants and shops, while Katerini is only about seven kilometres inland. The sea shelves gently and the main sections are set up for long family beach days, with organised seating and seasonal supervision.
In July and August, expect music, closely spaced sunbeds and a lively promenade rather than silence. Walk north or south from the central pier for more breathing room, and check the day’s wind before settling in: the Thermaic Gulf can turn choppy. The level town layout is useful for visitors who find steep island approaches difficult, though sand access still varies by section.
