Clear pebble swimming opposite Spinalonga
Plaka faces Spinalonga across a narrow channel north of Elounda. Several short pebble sections sit beside the village road and tavernas, turning a swim into an easy addition to lunch or a boat visit rather than a separate expedition.
The water is clear but becomes deep quickly, and rounded stones make beach shoes useful. Stay inside marked swimming areas because local boats use the channel throughout the day. Space is limited, so do not assume every waterfront section has public loungers or step-free entry.
