Plaka extends for kilometres southwest of Chora, alternating serviced sandy sections with quieter stretches beside low dunes.
Our take
Naxos's long dune-backed beach beyond the resort strip
Plaka continues south from Agia Anna and Maragas into a long, west-facing beach. The northern half has restaurants, accommodation and organised seating; farther south, buildings thin and the shore becomes quieter, with a naturist tradition in remote sections.
Use established paths to protect the dunes and carry shade away from concessions. The coast is usually less exposed to the meltemi than northern Naxos, but afternoon breeze and swell still change conditions.
