A shifting sand spit with strong water on both sides
The beach extends beyond the Possidi lighthouse as a narrow tongue of pale sand. Its precise shape moves with winter storms and summer current, placing open Aegean water on one side and the Thermaic Gulf on the other.
Do not swim around the point or assume the calmer-looking side is safe. Current can carry swimmers away from land, shade is absent and the walk over loose sand is taxing. Park before the protected lighthouse zone, carry water and leave well before darkness.
