A near-perfect sand arc beside Gialova Lagoon
Voidokilia forms a remarkably even semicircle between two rocky headlands north of Pylos. Fine sand shelves into a protected bay, while the Gialova lagoon and its wetland habitat lie immediately behind the dunes. The setting is natural rather than serviced, despite the beach's fame.
Bring water and shade, park only in established areas and keep vehicles off sand and vegetation. The climb toward Nestor's Cave and the old castle is steep, exposed and separate from an ordinary beach walk. Summer crowds peak around midday, so an early arrival protects both the experience and the limited parking capacity.
