Florina is a northern border city known for its Sakoulevas river, strong visual-arts tradition, winter fires and access to Prespa and Nymfaio.

Florina's most distinctive walk follows the Sakoulevas River past studios, neoclassical houses and cafés. The city's university arts community and film connections give it a creative identity within a landscape known for severe winters.

On 23 December, neighbourhood bonfires fill the city in a major local tradition. Roads west reach Prespa's lakes and Agios Germanos, while Nymfaio and Amyntaio's wineries lie south.

Buses connect Florina with Thessaloniki; rail services vary. Winter temperatures are low and roads icy, so check conditions before Prespa or Nymfaio trips.
