Gaios is Paxos's main town, where waterfront lanes face Agios Nikolaos islet and boats leave for Antipaxos and the west-coast caves.
Gaios occupies a protected channel between Paxos and Agios Nikolaos, creating a long, narrow harbour full of fishing boats and yachts. Pastel houses, small squares and the Church of the Analipsi form a compact centre.
Boat trips to Antipaxos and the blue caves leave from the waterfront, while inland roads reach olive groves and villages. Gaios is busiest at midday; mornings and evenings retain a more local pace.
Practical information
Passenger ferries arrive from Corfu and Igoumenitsa. Parking is outside the tight centre; book small boats responsibly and avoid caves in rough seas.
