Kozani is a regional city known for its historic library, lively Carnival customs and nearby cultivation of protected Krokos saffron.

Kozani's Koventareios Municipal Library grew from a long tradition of education and holds important manuscripts and rare books. The central square, museums and market reflect a city built around trade and regional administration.

South of town, villages cultivate Krokos Kozanis, Greece's protected red saffron. Carnival customs feature lamps, fires, satire and local brass, revealing a strong community culture beyond conventional sightseeing.
