Why go

Major nightlife beside one of the Mediterranean's key turtle nesting bays.

Laganas is Zakynthos's busiest youth resort, but its broad bay is also protected habitat for endangered loggerhead sea turtles.

Laganas built its reputation on bars, clubs and a long sandy beach. That tourism sits within the National Marine Park, where loggerhead turtles nest and strict rules govern boats, lighting, beach use and nighttime access.

Travellers should choose wildlife-responsible operators and understand the conflict between party volume and conservation. Quieter bases around Kalamaki or Keri can access the bay without depending on the main strip.

Practical information

Buses and taxis connect from Zakynthos Town and the airport. Respect nesting-zone closures, remove all beach waste and never touch turtles or nests.
