Levitha lies between Amorgos and Leros, known to sailors for its protected bay, sparse grazing landscape and exceptionally small resident community.
Levitha has provided shelter on an exposed Aegean route since antiquity. Today a single family maintains livestock, moorings and a seasonal taverna, continuing a self-reliant island life far from regular transport.
The island is not a casual day-trip destination. Sailors value its bay in suitable conditions, but water, power and waste capacity are extremely limited. Visiting responsibly means using established moorings and accepting what the residents can provide.
Practical information
There is no scheduled ferry or public accommodation. Arrive only on a properly equipped vessel, contact residents ahead where possible and carry all emergency supplies.
